Design Principle
PDLC Film consists of a liquid crystal polymer. Liquid Crystals are dispersed within a formulated polymer matrix. The particles are aligned parallel to each other when a flow of electricity occurs, enabling the light flow through. Once the flow of electricity is stopped, the crystals return to their original position (randomly oriented towards each other), blocking the flow of light.
Laminated Switchable Glass
And then the Liquid Crystal Polymer coated film is laminated between 2 glass panes to become laminated switchable glass. This glass is also known as magic glass, intelligent glass, smart glass and smoke glass. A simple ON - OFF mode transforms the glass from being clear (transparent) to opaque (translucent). It can become Transparent when power on, then opaque when power off.
Advantages
(1) Switchable Glass only requires a small amount of energy to sustain (powering several windows at same time uses less electricity than a single light bulb) and electrochromic glass hardly needs any electricity at all.
(2) Switchable glass does not need cleaning and does not fade in the sun like cloth and plastic.
(3) Can assist the air condition to economize energy and can obstruct ultraviolet radiation.
(4) Bright indoor. Switchable glass allows enough light even when opaque.
Functions:
