PDLC Film
PDLC film (polymer dispersed liquid crystal) is the mixed product of two sheet transparent conductive film (ITO) with polymer dispersed liquid crystal(PDLC) material inside. Through the function of electric fields, PDLC film can make a fast switch of condition between "transparent - opaque" and " opaque - transparent ".
PDLC film can be laminated or sticked with the glass to make so-called "smart glass".
Not Self-Adhesive Film
PDLC film (not self-adhesive film) is used for making smart glass by laminating machine. It is laminated between two pieces of glass to make smart glass.
Self-Adhesive Film
PDLC film (self-adhesive film) has a special glue on one side of the film. People can paste the film on their existing glass directly to make smart glass.
In brief, self-adhesive smart film can be used directly by customers, but not self-adhesive smart film is used for factory to processe to make smart glass, can't used by customers directly.
Smart Glass
Liquid Crystals are dispersed within a formulated polymer matrix enabling the particles to be aligned parallel to each other when a flow of electricity occurs. Once the flow of electricity is stopped, the crystals return to their original position (randomly oriented towards each other), blocking the flow of light. Liquid Crystal Polymer coated film is then laminated between 2 glass panes to become laminated switchable glass. This glass is also known as magic glass, intelligent glass, smart glass and smoke glass.
Smart glass enable glass to be instantly transformed from a clear state to an opaque state, by the flicking of a switch, providing immediate privacy and security, when required. It replaces the need for old fashioned blinds or curtains, offering greater control and comfort within any room.
