Descriptions: Colorless or white glossy flake-like crystal, or white crystalline powder. With slight special odor, taste slightly bitter. Melting point 280-281 ºC(dissolution). Instable to strong acid, demethylation can be resulted. Soluble in water(5.6g/100ml,30ºC), warm dilute ethanol, alkaline solution and dilute mineral acids. Difficult to be soluble in ethanol, nearly insoluble in ether.
Applications: Nutrition supplement. One of the essential amino acids for human. DL-Methionine is usually used to replace L-Methionine because they have same effect while L-Methionine costs higher.
