General Product Information
Category
Insecticides > Neonicotinoid insecticides
Activity
Nitenpyram is a systemic insecticide effective primarily against Hemiptera, but also with some activity against Thysanoptera. It is more active by ingestion than by contact. At low concentrations the product inhibits feeding. The product also has ovicidal activity. When used as a foliar spray nitenpyram shows translaminar activity. The product may also be used as a soil treatment. Nitenpyram has not shown any crop phytotoxicity and has activity lasting up to 16 days after treatment.
Trials in Japan (www.potatonews.com) indicate that soil applications of granular nitenpyram formulations have good potential for the control of Liriomyza trifolii in tomatoes and chrysanthemums grown under greenhouse conditions.
No cross-resistance to organophosphorus, carbamate or pyrethroid insecticides has been shown.
